Update: Apr 11, 2012
If you ever come across Hau River Plantation in Can Tho City’s O Mon District on National Road No.91, you will know Bang Tang Market, the starting point from a rustic path to craft villages inherited with huge cultural value.

And hidden there is Thoi Long stove-making craft village which is an amazing venue and worth a visit.

The area is a huge rice growing hub in the Mekong Delta city. After harvesting rice, the locals use rice husk to make into stoves thus the name of the village of stoves was born.

To reach the village, from Bang Tang Market, you go straight for three kilometers, passing a concrete bridge to Thoi Long Market. At the end of the market, you make a left turn and will see the site.

The locals there take clay from canals along the Hau River to mix with husk then mould them into stoves. Stoves are made in diverse size, shapes and models.

During your visit to the village, tourists should not forget to tramp around Thoi Long Market to look for some fresh delta fruits, Thoi Long Communal House to discover ancient indigenous cultural and stroll around the village to learn more about the daily life of locals.
