Renowned travel agency Saigontourist has a group of 15 Australian tourists currently traveling around the country by motorcycle.

They started off on April 3 from the city and finish the Asian Experience on the April 21. It is the first time the group has experienced this unique way of exploring Vietnam but Saigontourist has made sure they will be well looked after.

The journey will see the group travel from HCMC-My Tho-Cu Chi-Dalat-Nha Trang-Buon Ma Thuot-Pleiku-Quy Nhon-Hoian-Hue-Hanoi.

Nguyen Thanh Luu, director of Danang-based Saigontourist, said, “To serve foreign groups of tourists going across Vietnam by high-power motorbikes or all-terrain bikes, we have to arrange a group of motorcycles and mechanics, and medical staff to travel along with them.”

Saigontourist has been organizing similar tours for over a decade, mainly for visitors from Australia, New Zealand and the U.K.

Every year, the local travel company welcomes between three to five groups of tourists taking motorbike tours across Vietnam. This type of vacation seems to be more suited to people aged between 45 and 70 and normally groups of between 10 to 15 people. Luu added that tourists often choose a tour across Vietnam before focusing on the north-eastern region to visit mountainous and forest areas.

On May 10, Saigontourist in Danang will serve 20 professional riders from motorbike manufacturers Yamaha, who want to travel around the country, taking photos and doing charity work in the places they come across.
