◊ GEOGRAPHY
Situated in Mekong Delta, Soc Trang is surrounded by Tra Vinh, Vinh Long, Hau Giang, Bac Lieu and East Sea. There are 72km seaside, two river mouths and 30,000ha alluvia ground.
Its name comes from a Khmer name “Srock Kh’leang” which means “a place to store silver”. This place is also where most of Khmer people live. Therefore, beside Kinh’s culture (the major people in Viet Nam), visitors can see the Khmer cultural characteristics everywhere, especially at Khmer pagodas.
Climat: Influenced by oceanic weather, the province has two seasons: the rainy season lasts from May to November and dry season lasts from December to April next year. Annual average temperature is 27oC. Annual rainfall is 1,840mm.

When visiting Soc Trang, travelers should not miss local delicacies such as Sugpo prawn, crayfish, dried shrimp, crab, Pia Cake, Sesame Cake “Lao”, Chinese sausage, deep dried shrimp paste… Besides, there are many excellent dishes served by restaurants such as : Goat meat with five tastes, salty roast crab, Seafood soup, Shrimp cooked as Chinese, dried rolls, duck cooked with ginger….Specially, we also serve buffets with European and Asean dishes…

Viet (Kinh), Khmer, Hoa ethnic groups live together here. The province has 89 pagodas of Khmer group, 47 pagodas of Hoa people. Ma Toc (Bat), Khleang, Chruitim Chas, Chen Kieu, and Buu Son Tu (Set) are famous pagodas.
◊ TRANSPORTATION
Soc Trang is 231km from Ho Chi Minh City, 60km from Can Tho. National Road N°. 1 links the province and Can Tho, Bac Lieu.
Bus: Soc Trang Bus Station (27 National Road N°. 1, Soc Trang City) are regular buses run between Soc Trang and Ho Chi Minh City and some Southern provinces.
