Int’l visitors to Viet Nam in May 2014 increases 20.66% over the same period last year

(TITC) – According to the General Statistics Office, international visitors to Viet Nam in May estimated 674,204 arrivals, increasing 20.66% over the same period last year and down 9.62% over last month.

The above result has contributed to the total number of 3,748,109 int’l arrivals to Viet Nam in the first 5 months, up 26.07% compared with the same period of 2013. By the purpose, the visitors for tourism purpose estimated 2,264,361 arrivals, up 24.33%; business 629,173 (+25.71%); visiting relatives 646.694 (+30.84%); and other purposes 207,881 (+32.30%). Some source markets strongly grew in the first 5 months of 2014, namely Hong Kong (+179.69%), Germany (+119.69%), China (+43.39%), Laos (+39.24%), Cambodia (+34.81%), Russia (+27.98%), Spain (+26.73%)…

Comparing with the previous month, most of source markets recorded negative growth, slightly though excluding Laos (up 23.61%), Cambodia (up 8.96%), and others markets (up 13.63%). However, in the comparison with May 2013, most of source markets increased. Some markets saw strong growth including Hong Kong (+228.83%), Germany (+167.10%), China (+30.56%), Laos (+93.47%), Cambodia (+44.88%), Spain (+14.29%)…

The number of domestic trippers in the first 5 months of 2014 estimated 20.4 million trips, up 6.7% over the same period last year; total tourism receipts reached VND 109,160 billions, up 28%.
