Vietravel arranges FAM trip for Cambodia press
Update: Mar 02, 2011
Local tour operator Vietravel arranged a familiarization trip for a press group from Cambodia between February 24 and 27, giving them a chance to learn culture, lifestyle, and tourism products in Vietnam at a time when arrivals from Cambodia are increasing strongly.

The group included the central and local television stations such as CTN, TVK, Apsara TV; and newspapers and magazines of Cambodia such as The Phnom Penh Post, Koh Sontepheap Daily, Raksmey Kampuchea Daily, and Popular Magazine.

During four days in Vietnam, the press group visited numerous places in HCMC, Vung Tau and Binh Duong.

The trip took in many beauty spots such as French-style constructions in downtown HCMC, Ben Thanh Market, Dam Sen Amusement Park, Saigon Zoo and Botanical Garden. The guests also spent their time at Binh Chau Hot Spring and Vung Tau City in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province, and Dai Nam Van Hien tourism complex in Binh Duong Province.

The Cambodian press also visited the HCMC-based Victoria Healthcare, a joint-venture between Vietnam and the U.S., to look into the process of disease examination and treatment at a clinic meeting U.S. standards.

Owing to the convenient overland travel between the two countries via numerous border gates, cross-border travel has been increasing rapidly, with thousands of guests from either side. In the January-July period of last year, there were over 142,700 arrivals from Cambodia to Vietnam, a staggering increase of 93% year-on-year.

Cambodian tourists are much interested in tourism services connected with medical treatment in Vietnam.
