On February 10, 2011 (the 8th day of the 1st lunar month), Thua Thien - Hue Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Vietnam Buddhism Managing Committee in Thua Thien - Hue Province coordinated with Huyen Tran Culture Center to hold the opening ceremony of great festival to pray for “peace country – happy people†in Huong Van Zen Monastery of Huyen Tran Culture Center (Ngu Tay Hamlet, An Tay Ward, Hue City)
The great festival to pray for “peace country – happy people†was held on February 10 and 11 (the 8th and 9th days of the 1st lunar month). This is the first event of activities of Huyen Tran Temple Festival 2011 to pray for peace and developing country, happy people, favorable weather and abundant crop.
The participators in the opening ceremony included: leaders of State, Thua Thien Hue Province, Hue City and districts; delegates of Vietnam Buddhism Managing Committee in Thua Thien - Hue Province; Buddhist monks and nuns; locals and tourists.
After the leaders of State, Thua Thien - Hue Province and delegates of Vietnam Buddhism Managing Committee in Thua Thien - Hue Province carried out thurification ritual, all delegates and Buddhist monks and nuns prayed together in Huong Van Zen Monastery under the Buddhism traditional ritual.

In the framework of Huyen Tran Temple Festival 2011, apart form the great festival to pray for “peace country – happy people†opened on the 8th day of the 1st lunar month in Huong Van Zen Monastery, there are 3 other main activities: Huyen Tran Temple Festival opened on the 9th day of the 1st lunar month in the main ground of Huyen Tran Temple, Hoa dang Festival opened at night of the 9th day of the 1st lunar month in the square of Huong Van Zen Monastery and Nguyen Tieu Festival opened at night of the 15th day of the 1st lunar month in the square of Huong Van Zen Monastery. In addition, there are many other cultural activities in the Huyen Tran Temple Festival 2011 such as: Chinese chess, human chess, martial arts, calligraphy, flower arrangement, bell strikingness in Hoa Binh Bell Tower, gastronomy…

Huyen Tran is the daughter of King Tran Nhan Tong. From 1306, after the wedding of the princess Huyen Tran with Che Man, the Cham King, the territories of Chau O and Chau Ly (comprised of Quang Tri, Thua Thien - Hue and part of northern Quang Nam) took the name of Thuan Hoa. And in order to commemorate the princess’s effort, the People‘s Committee of Thua Thien – Hue Province had the Huyen Tran Temple built in Hue City. |
