Departure ceremony of planting the flag of “1000 years of Thang Long - Hanoi” on peak Fansipan

On the morning of October 30, 2010, at the King Ly Thai To Garden (Ha Noi), Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) and Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism (DCST) have co-organized the departure ceremony of conquering Fansipan Mountain and planting the flag of "1000 years of Thang Long - Hanoi" on peak Fansipan.

Attending the ceremony include Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong - Deputy Director General of the VNAT,  the Chief of the Organization Committee of the Mountaineering Journey; Mr. Pham Quang Long - Director of Hanoi DCST; Mr. Nguyen Dinh Dung - Deputy Director of Lao Cai DCST, representatives of the departments from the VNAT, Hanoi DCST, and the mountaineering athlete teams.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Pham Quang Long said that this activity was organized to celebrate the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi, the National Tourism Year 2010 and the 50th anniversary of Vietnam Tourism. The event of conquering Fansipan Mountain and planting flag of "1000 years of Thang Long - Hanoi" on the roof of Indochina as an opportunity to introduce to Vietnamese and foreigners about Hoang Lien Son Range, Hoang Lien National Park and the Fansipan Peak at 3,143m high, as well as reflect the hearts of people from the Northwest regions toward the Thang Long – Ha Noi.

 

After the incense-offering ceremony at the statue of the founder of a dynasty Ly Cong Uan, the Deputy Director General of the VNAT – Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong and the Director of Hanoi DCST – Mr. Pham Quang Long had offered the program souvenirs for the representatives of mountaineering athlete teams.

At the ceremony, Mr Pham Quang Long had given the flag of "1000 years of Thang Long - Hanoi," to Mr Nguyen Quy Phuong - Deputy Director of the Travel Department (VNAT), deputy chief of the organization committee of the Mountaineering Journey. This flag will be planted on Peak of Fansipan Mountain at 3,143m high.

The leaders of the VNAT, Hanoi DCST, Lao Cai DCST together with the representatives of athlete teams had also autographed on the calligraphy of “Long” (dragon) character on large silk background which performed by calligrapher Trinh Tuan.

The journey of mountaineering and planting the flag of "1000 years of Thang Long - Hanoi" on peak Fansipan has been taken place from October 30, 2010 to November 2, 2010.
