Veteran artists display works
Update: Aug 30, 2010
Flowers in blossom, landscapes and calligraphy are the central themes of 70 works by 33 Vietnamese-Chinese artists on display at an exhibition at HCM City Fine Arts Association.

Many of the painters, who are all members of HCM City's Chinese Fine Arts Club, prefer to compose with watercolour and Chinese ink.

Most of the artworks shown at the annual event are thuy mac (ink and wash) paintings.

Many masters of thuy mac and calligraphers who are well-known in HCM City are participating in the show, including Ly Tung Nien, Truong Han Minh, Ly Khac Nhu, Truong Lo, Huynh Tuan Ba and Tran Van Hai.

Their love of nature, birds, beasts, trees and mountains, is evident in every stroke.

The exhibition also displays many calligraphy works in Mandarin Chinese that depict poems of the late President Ho Chi Minh.

Huynh Van Muoi, head of HCM City Fine Arts Association, said although the artists were seasoned veterans they still showed dedication and passion.

Many of the artists in the show have received prizes in HCM City and the southern region.
