Flag to be planted on Fansipan peak to mark Hanoi’s millennium

The tourism sector will plant a flag on the nation’s highest mountain, the Fansipan in the northern province of Lao Cai to mark the capital city’s millennium birthday.

According to the Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism Mai Tien Dung, a group of 85 people working in tourist sector will set out on their climb up the 3,143-m mountain on October 26.

This is a joint activity between the municipal Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism and the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism to welcome 1,000th birthday of Thang Long-Hanoi and the National Tourism Year 2010.
