Vietnam attends travel expo in Hong Kong
Update: Jun 15, 2009
Vietnam showed its tourist industry at the Hong Kong International Travel Expo 2009 (HK ITE 2009) held in Hong Kong, China, from June 11-14.

Vietnam has two pavilions at the exhibition, one representing the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines and the other belonging to central Quang Nam Province’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

This is the first time the Quang Nam tourism sector has attended the expo and it is using it as part of its preparations for a ceremony to mark the 10th anniversary of UNESCO recognising Hoi An Ancient Town and My Son Sanctuary as world cultural heritages.

With the slogan of “One Destination, Two World Cultural Heritage Sites”, the Quang Nam pavilion has drawn a lot of attention from foreign visitors and partners in the tourist industry.

The sector will also hold a forum on tourism in the province in particular and Vietnam in general.

Speaking at the forum, the Vietnamese Consul General in Hong Kong and Macau, Mr. Pham Cao Phong, said that Vietnam always creates the best possible facilities for overseas tourists when they visit the country.

Mr. Dinh Hai, Director of the Quang Nam Province’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that Quang Nam is now an attractive tourist destination with two world cultural heritage sites along with a recently-recognised world biosphere reserve at Cu Lao Cham.

The expo features 600 stands from 50 countries and territories.
