HCM city proposes three round-robin electric car routes

The Ho Chi Minh city Department of Transport has proposed opening three round-robin electric car routes to take passengers from wharves to some locations in the city, as the river bus service is put into operation in November.

Accordingly, the first route will operate in the city centre, while the second and third will carry passengers to locations in District 2.

The first route is as follows: Bach Dang Wharf - Hai Ba Trung - Dong Du - Mac Thi Buoi - Lam Son Square - Le Loi - Nguyen Hue - Le Thanh Ton - Pham Hong Thai - Pham Ngu Lao - Yersin - Tran Hung Dao - Pham Ngu Lao - Pho Duc Chinh - Nguyen Cong Tru - Ton That Dam - Vo Van Kiet - Nguyen Thai Binh - Ton Duc Thang - Nguyen Hue - Me Linh Square - Bach Dang Wharf.

The route will pass some famous tourist attractions such as Ben Thanh Market, Ho Chi Minh city Theatre, Nguyen Hue pedestrian street, and some major hotels.

The second route includes: Binh An Wharf (District 2) - Street 20 - Tran Nao - parallel street to Hanoi Highway (Parkson Cantavil Building) - Minh Dang Quang Buddhism Institute - Mai Chi Tho - Dong Tay (An Phu urban area) - Street 24 - parallel street to Hanoi Highway - Tran Nao - Street 20 - Binh An Wharf.

While the third route consists of the following destinations: Thao Dien Wharf - Street 66 - Nguyen Van Huong - Thao Dien - Xuan Thuy - Nguyen Van Huong - Street 66 - Thao Dien Wharf.

Initially, the routes will use 10 electric cars from 8 to 14 seats with operating time from 05h00 to 22h00 daily.

From the beginning of 2017, the city piloted three electric car routes in the city centre and Phu My Hung area, carrying between 800 and 1,000 passengers a day.
