(TITC) - On 11 November 2017, in Ha Noi, the talk show “Fostering the United States – Viet Nam tourism development” was held by Viet Nam Society of Travel Agents (VISTA).

Mr. Vu The Binh, Chairman of VISTA and Mr. Jay Ellenby, Chairman of ASTA chaired the talk show

The talk show had the representatives of VISTA and leaders of 45 leading tour operators in Viet Nam; Mr. Jay Ellenby, Chairman of American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) and his assistant.

Speaking to open the talk show, Chairman of VISTA Vu The Binh appreciated the good cooperation between VISTA and ASTA. At Viet Nam International Travel Mart (VITM 2017), Viet Nam welcomed the first delegation of ASTA to attend the mart and survey some destinations of Viet Nam. Then, in November 2017, Mr. Jay Ellenby, Chairman of ASTA visited and worked with VISTA. This marked a new step in the tourism cooperation between the two sides.

Overview of the talk show

In 2016, the total number of US outbound visitors reached over 80 million trips. Of which, there were 552,644 US visitor arrivals to Viet Nam. In the first 10 months of 2017, Viet Nam welcomed 506,354 US visitor arrivals, up 10.6% over the same period in 2016. In recent years, the United States has always been one of the five leading markets sending visitors to Viet Nam.

At the talk show, the two sides exchanged some specific contents to promote tourism development and identified the program of cooperation in 2018 and 2019. Accordingly, VISTA will register to participate in a few programs hosted by ASTA. ASTA also undertook to support some programs organized by VISTA, and will send the US tour operator delegation to participate VITM 2018 in Ha Noi.
